Engineering - Development Services

Development Services reviews construction drawings for proposed residential subdivisions and commercial developments within the unincorporated areas of Butler County. To ensure new development follows the mission of the County Engineer's Office, two major components of the plan get evaluated -- traffic and drainage. Below are some of the items that get critiqued:

Traffic

    • Access Management
    • Street connectivity and layout
    • Intersection sight distance
    • Horizontal and vertical design of the street
    • Turn lane and signal analysis

Drainage

    • Storm water detention basins (flood control)
    • Street storm sewers and emergency flood routes
    • General subdivision drainage & grading
    • Floodplain delineation and mitigation

DRAINAGE BROCHURE

This brochure outlines property owner responsibilities for proper storm water drainage improvements and maintenance and clarifies the limits of authority of public agencies. Ditch petitions are also explained.
