County Engineer Greg
Wilkens announces that construction to upgrade two Butler County
intersections will begin next month. Crews will start work June
1 at the intersection of Eaton Road and Taylor School Road on
the Wayne / St. Clair Township line, although some preliminary
work may begin sooner. The project is designed to improve turning
radii at the intersection. This will provide safer and easier
turning movements for larger vehicles such as school buses, according
to Wilkens. Work is expected to be completed in approximately
one to two weeks and no road closures are expected.
Crews will then move
to Cincinnati Dayton Road at Kyles Station Road where plans call
for improving the sight distance, widening the turning radii,
and raising the roadway profile on the west side of the intersection
to improve the approach to Cincinnati Dayton. This will require
the closure of Kyles Station Road on the intersection's west
side for approximately two to three weeks. A culvert installation
across Cincinnati Dayton Road will necessitate one overnight
closure of the intersection's south leg between 7:00 p.m. and
5:00 a.m. Exact closing dates will be announced and posted on
the BCEO web site when the information becomes available. Construction
at the Liberty Township intersection is expected to take approximately
two to three weeks, weather permitting.
The construction contract
for both projects was awarded to the John R. Jurgensen Company
which submitted a low bid of $254,075. Funding will consist of
100 percent Butler County money.
Update
- June 10, 2002: The Cincinnati Dayton Road at Kyles Station
