Butler County Engineer Greg
Wilkens announces that an online, interactive version of the
Official Butler County Transportation Map is now available on
the BCEO web site. This web-based version has the same colorful
look and feel of the printed map but utilizes interactive navigation
and search capability.
Users will find four
different zoom levels to help with perspective and provide detail
or they can pan in any direction. An alphabetical street index
and search feature are also available.
"We've been working
to bring our map online for some time," Wilkens said. "As
popular as the printed map booklets have been, we sensed there
was a growing interest by the public to have the same map available
on our web site. We've received numerous comments to that effect."
The BCEO's Chris Petrocy
added "Anyone who likes our printed map will be instantly
comfortable with this one too. It works similar to MapQuest but
we have the all important local advantage. Since it is literally
our own map it is much more accurate and contains more local
detail. We worked very closely with the cartographers at Engels
Guide / Maplocator to produce a map by Butler County people for
Butler County people. There will be some further tweaking of
the index in coming months and we will constantly be looking
for ways to improve on what we believe is an excellent product."
