Butler County Engineer
Greg Wilkens reports that construction is set to begin this Monday
on an upgrade to the Princeton Road / LeSourdsville West Chester
Road intersection in Liberty Township. This safety improvement
project will widen the turning radii of the intersection and
add left turn lanes on all four approaches. Traffic signals will
also be installed and operational once construction is completed
in late August.
A construction contract
for the project was awarded to Don S. Cisle, Contractor of Hamilton
which submitted a low bid of $686,075. Local BCEO funds will
be utilized to pay for 100 percent of the intersection improvement.
A separate contract for the signals will be funded with Federal
LPA money and was awarded to Elex, Inc., which submitted a low
bid of $98,900.
At this time there
are no road closings planned; however, as work progresses the
contractor may find it necessary to close the intersection for
very short time periods. These closures, if needed, would not
last more than one or two days. In the event that the roads must
be closed, signs will be posted on all four approaches to the
intersection noting the date of the anticipated closure. These
signs will also direct motorists to the BCEO web site which will
have all road closing information and project updates.
