Butler County Engineer
Greg Wilkens reports that 2007 will be one of the County's biggest
road construction seasons ever dollar wise, with a substantial
amount of that work being performed in the southeastern townships.
The Butler County Engineer's Office, in conjunction with Liberty
and West Chester Townships and the Butler County TID, will administer
$34.2 million worth of projects this year in southeast Butler
County alone.
Specifically, Liberty
Township will see an estimated $17,934,216 in road improvements
while the approximate dollar amount for West Chester Township
is $16,296,123.
"Most of the projects
are safety and capacity driven, designed to make roads, intersections,
and bridges safer and promote smoother, more efficient traffic
flow, "Wilkens said. "Some projects are related to
economic development, such as the intersection upgrade at Muhlhauser
and Allen Roads which will facilitate the additional traffic
generated by Ikea."
Key projects and their
estimated price tags include:
- Cincinnati Dayton
Road improvement from Crescentville Road to West Chester Road
-- $2,328,770.
- Muhlhauser at Allen
Road intersection improvement -- $1,600,000.
- Union Centre Boulevard
at Muhlhauser Road intersection improvement -- $1,734,000.
- Allen Road at Windisch
Road intersection improvement -- $1,975,000.
- Hamilton Mason Road
improvement from Cincinnati Dayton Road west to the RR overpass
-- $3,500,000.
- Ohio 747 widening
from Tylersville Road to Ohio 129 -- $3,596,693.
- Cincinnati Dayton
Road at Summerlin Boulevard intersection improvement -- $650,000.
- Kyles Station Road
at Ohio 4 intersection improvement -- $1,175,000.
- Liberty Fairfield
Road bridge replacement over the Great Miami River -- $10,500,000.
There will be additional
smaller intersection improvements, a number of traffic signal
upgrades, several miles of pavement resurfacing, and two railroad
crossing upgrades. Some of these projects will require road closures;
however, in most cases traffic will be maintained.

these projects and to learn which ones may or may not involve
closures, please visit the Current
Projects page here on the BCEO web site. Road closings can
be tracked on the Road Closings

project information one on one to citizens and motorists, the
BCEO in cooperation with the West Chester Chamber Alliance, Liberty
Township, West Chester Township, and the Butler County TID, will
host a series of public meetings. These meetings will be a casual
opportunity to provide direct construction updates to local property

be held on Friday, April 20, 2007, 8:00 a.m. at the Liberty Township
Fire Station on Princeton Glendale Road (Ohio 747) and will focus

Administration Building, corner of Cincinnati Dayton and West
Chester Roads. Similarly, this meeting will focus on West Chester
Township projects.
Additional meetings
