Butler County Engineer
Greg Wilkens accepted awards this week from the Greater Hamilton
Safety Council recognizing the BCEO's outstanding workplace safety.
Specifically, the 2008
Officer's Award: Best Industrial Safety Record was presented
by the Safety Council to the Butler County Engineer's Office
for going 205,588 man-hours worked without a lost time accident.
The BCEO was also recognized
by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation with the 100 Percent
Achievement Award for Outstanding Safety Performance.
These awards are particularly
noteworthy considering the hazardous nature of bridge and roadway
work. BCEO Highway Service Workers and snow plow drivers encounter
conditions that range from high heat and heavy construction equipment
to sub-zero temperatures and treacherous roads.
"Both of these
awards represent our employees' dedication to on-the-job safety,"
said Wilkens. "We're extremely proud of their accomplishments
and the safety training programs that we have in place at the
Engineer's Office. Our team of professionals know and understand
how critical work place safety is. The dual benefit of keeping
our employees safe and reducing lost work time is indeed a win-win
for us and for the taxpayers."
