Butler County Engineer
Greg Wilkens reports that a bridge replacement on Black Road
is slated to begin March 1. Located between Ross Hanover Road
and Ross Estates Drive, Black Road Bridge #01.311 is a single
span camelback pony truss with a 59-foot span built in 1958.
It will be replaced by a new, wider concrete box beam structure.
A construction contract
for the project was awarded to Eagle Bridge Company of Sidney,
Ohio which submitted a low bid of $898,637. A combination of
State OPWC and BCEO funds will be utilized to pay for the project.
All work is scheduled
for completion by early June 2010, weather permitting.
Road Closing
and Maintenance of Traffic
Black Road will close
0.2 mile north of Ross Estates Drive and 0.3 mile south of Ross
Hanover Road for this bridge replacement beginning Monday, March

residents, businesses, and emergency vehicles; however, local
