Butler County Engineer Dean
C. Foster reports that the Engineer's Office now has a new web
site on the Internet at http://www.bceo.org. The site
has been under construction for several weeks while BCEO technicians
installed the necessary hardware, which will provide speedy access
and quick retrieval of information.
"The BCEO has always
placed a high priority on furnishing the public and the media
with current and relevant information about road construction,
safety, and utilization of tax dollars," said Foster. "It
only made sense that this was to be our next step."
"The Internet is one
of the fastest growing communications tools available today and
we decided it was time to take advantage of it," noted Chris
Petrocy, Public Information Officer. "We have a very basic
site in operation right now. Our plan is to give it some polish
and evolve it into a much more comprehensive site over the next
month or two."
Web surfers will soon find
information about the office of the County Engineer, road closings,
status of active projects, upcoming projects, a posting of the
current Annual Report, news releases, a guide to the township
trustees, and links to other Butler County web sites. Eventually,
the site will offer project photos, numerous interesting engineering
tidbits, as well as a listing of BCEO services, departments,
and email addresses.
"Our goal is to have
many of our employees connected with Internet email soon,"
according to Foster. "The advantage of being on the Internet
is clearly twofold -- it is a great way for our citizens to access
us and the information we can provide, and, it enables our employees
to access the wealth of information available on the web. It's
a classic win-win situation."
