Butler County Engineer Dean
C. Foster reports that the contract to upgrade Cincinnati Dayton
Road in Middletown and Monroe will be awarded by the Ohio Department
of Transportation (ODOT) on June 18, 1997. Construction will
begin in July and is expected to take about one year to complete.
The project will widen approximately
two miles of Cincinnati Dayton Road between S.R. 63 and Oxford
State Road from two to five lanes -- two lanes northbound, two
lanes southbound, and a center turning lane.
Engineers at the BCEO have
been working with officials from Middletown and Monroe throughout
the design phase of the $4 million project. Federal funds will
pay for approximately 80 percent of the project and the Engineer's
Office will provide the 20 percent local match initially. The
Cities of Middletown and Monroe will then reimburse the County
for the local match from their Issue Two funds.
