Butler County Engineer Dean
C. Foster reports that the BCEO will install traffic signals
at three major Butler County intersections this summer. The signals
are intended to improve safety and traffic flow through the intersections,
each of which has experienced increasing traffic counts due to
the County's rapid growth:
Cox
Road at Barret Road in Union Township
A contract was awarded on
June 12 to the T.C. Signal Company of Cincinnati which submitted
a low bid of $49,362.30. This will be the final phase of a safety
upgrade that has included a realignment of the intersection,
the addition of turn lanes on Cox Road, and a bridge replacement.
Work on the traffic signals is expected to start in late June
and be completed by the end of July.
Union
Centre Boulevard at West Chester Road
A contract was awarded on
May 22 to the Wagner-Smith Company of Dayton which submitted
a low bid of $62,202.62. This is the final phase in the construction
of the new Union Centre Boulevard from West Chester Road north
to Beckett Road. (The project has also been referred to as the
Allen Road Extension.)
The new section of Union Centre Boulevard should be open
with the new signals fully functional before school begins at
the end of the summer.
U.S.
27 at S.R. 129 (Hamilton Scipio Road)
A contract will be awarded
to the Wagner Smith Company on June 23 which submitted a low
bid of $30,419.47. The Engineer's Office is funding approximately
50 percent of the cost and the Village of Millville is paying
the other half. Installation is expected to begin by late June
with completion by the end of July.
