Consultant Prequalification Requirements

The Butler County Engineer's Office abides by Section 153.69 of the Ohio Revised Code, which requires that we use a qualifications-based consultant selection process when selecting consultants for engineering services. We accept statements of qualifications from any firm at any time. We ask that once your firm is prequalified with our office that you update your firm's qualifications packet at least every two years, or whenever you have had significant changes within your firm.

When submitting a statement of qualifications, please include the following:

• A letter indicating which categories for which you wish to be evaluated (Environmental, Surveying, Geotechnical, Roadway, Traffic, Structural, and Construction Management/Inspection);
• Brief history of the firm, including information regarding main areas of expertise;
• Resumes for management personnel, engineering personnel, and significant staff;
• Reference list of clients and representative projects worked on in the last five years, including a brief description and relative size of each project;
• Insurance information;
• Copy of current ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) technical prequalification letter (If not prequalified by ODOT, this should be indicated as well.);
• Any other information which may be helpful in evaluating the qualifications of your firm.

It is only necessary to submit one qualifications packet. Once your firm's packet is received, it will be evaluated by several BCEO engineers. Should your firm prequalify, you will receive a letter indicating so. Your firm's prequalification is then good for two years.

Requests for Letters of Interest are posted on this web site via the Public Announcements page from which you just clicked. When the BCEO is accepting Letters of Interest for specific projects, we request that you also submit information that is relative to the specific type of project.
