Note: As
a courtesy to local motorists and in the interest of construction
site safety, this notice is delivered on BCEO letterhead to all
residents and businesses in and near the project area.
This is to inform you
that the Butler County Engineer's Office will replace a culvert
on Elvin Lane, approximately 250 feet north of Princeton Road,
with a new structure beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2010. All
work is tentatively scheduled for completion the week of October
11, 2010, weather permitting.
The Project
This project is necessary
to replace an aging and deteriorating twin pipe culvert with
a new, safer pre-cast concrete box bridge. All work will be performed
by crews from the Butler County Engineer's Office. Funding for
the project will consist of local BCEO Force Account funds for
the labor and bridge structure and Liberty Township funds for
the materials. Total cost for the project is estimated at around
$90,000.
Maintenance of
Traffic
During construction,
access to the dead end portion of Elvin Lane will be maintained
with one lane at all times as crews will construct the bridge
one half at a time. Emergency personnel, school bus transportation
officials, the post office, and the media have been notified
of this so there is no confusion about local access.
We apologize for the
inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Your Safety
The BCEO would like
to emphasize the importance of proper safety measures during
actual construction. Every precaution will be taken to make the
construction site as safe as possible. However, we do ask that
you and your family be aware of the potential hazards associated
with work areas such as this. Please advise everyone to keep
out of the construction sites as much as possible to reduce the
risk of accidents.
Your assistance would
also be appreciated in reporting any instances of vandalism,
including the removal of lights, signs, or barricades. Such acts
of vandalism can seriously jeopardize the safety of motorists
and pedestrians in the construction area. Please contact our
Office or the Butler County Sheriff at 785-1300 or 424-0469 to
report any suspected vandalism.
We realize that construction
can create some inconveniences and annoyances, but everything
possible will be done to keep these to a minimum during this
series of projects. Thanks again for your patience.
