Road Closing Notification
to Local Residents and Businesses
September 11, 2007
rev. February 5, 2008

Indian Creek Road - Reily Township

Note: As a courtesy to local motorists and in the interest of construction site safety, this notice is delivered on BCEO letterhead to all residents and businesses in and near the project area.

Indian Creek Road is tentatively scheduled to close 1.3 miles north of Springfield Road and ten feet south of Imhoff beginning Monday, September 17, 2007 for the replacement of Bridge #01.360 over Indian Creek. Work on the project is expected to take approximately four months to complete, weather permitting. Update: Revised opening date for the bridge has been rescheduled for March 2008.

During this closure detours will be posted for all thru traffic but local access will be maintained for residents, businesses, and emergency vehicles only from the south side (Springfield Road). There will be no local access to Indian Creek Road from the north end of the project. Northbound thru traffic will detour southeast on Springfield Road, north on Ohio 732, west on Stillwell Beckett Road, and south on Riggs Road. Southbound traffic will reverse this route.

Emergency personnel, school bus transportation officials, the post office, and the media have been notified of the closing. The information is also posted on our web site at www.bceo.org/roadclosings.html.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

The Project

This project is necessary to replace an aging and deteriorating steel pony truss built in 1967 with a new, safer single span post-tensioned bulb-T structure. A contract for the project was awarded to Mainline Road and Bridge Construction, Inc. of Beavercreek, Ohio which submitted a low bid of $821,712. State OPWC funds will be utilized to pay for 78 percent of the construction cost. The remaining local match amount consists of local BCEO money.

Who To Contact

While the BCEO makes every effort to keep residents and businesses in a project area informed, we strongly encourage you to check the Road Closings page on our web site as the best source for possible date and status changes concerning this closing. If you have specific questions about the project, please contact BCEO Construction Manager Tom Simpson at the Engineer's Office by phone or email: 785-4134 or simpsont@bceo.org.

Your Safety

The BCEO would like to emphasize the importance of proper safety measures during actual construction. Every precaution will be taken to make the construction site as safe as possible. However, we do ask that you and your family be aware of the potential hazards associated with work areas such as this. Please advise everyone to keep out of the construction site as much as possible to reduce the risk of accidents.

Your assistance would also be appreciated in reporting any instances of vandalism, including the removal of lights, signs, or barricades. Such acts of vandalism can seriously jeopardize the safety of motorists and pedestrians in the construction area. Please contact our Office or the Butler County Sheriff at 785-1300 or 424-0469 to report any suspected vandalism.

We realize that construction can create some inconveniences and annoyances, but everything possible will be done to keep these to a minimum during this project. Thanks again for your patience.
