Note: As
a courtesy to local motorists and in the interest of construction
site safety, this notice is delivered on BCEO letterhead to all
residents and businesses in and near the project area.
This is to inform you
that the Butler County Engineer's Office is planning a series
of culvert replacements on Lanes Mill Road beginning Monday,
July 6, 2009. A total of three culverts will be replaced with
work on each lasting from three weeks for the first culvert to
one or two weeks for each of the other two culverts.
The first culvert to
be replaced is located 0.2 mile north of Nichols Road and 0.5
mile south of Wallace Road. Work will take approximately three
weeks after which crews will move to the second culvert, located
0.5 mile north of Nichols Road and 0.2 mile south of Wallace
Road. This culvert job will also involve extensive berm repairs
and will take approximately ten days to complete. Crews will
then move to the third culvert which is 0.2 mile south of Shollenbarger
Road and 0.3 mile north of Wallace Road.
Work on the final culvert
is tentatively slated for completion the week of August 17, 2009;
however, weather and other factors out of our control can affect
the schedule. The best way for local motorists to stay informed
is to check the Road Closings page on the BCEO web site at www.bceo.org/roadclosings. Emergency
personnel, school bus transportation officials, the post office,
and the media have been notified of these upcoming closures.
During these closures
Lanes Mill Road will be closed to thru traffic; however, local
access will be maintained from either the north or south side
of each culvert project, depending upon your location and which
culvert is under construction.
The official posted
detour for all thru traffic will be as follows:
Northbound Lanes Mill
Road traffic will detour east on Nichols Road, northwest on Ohio
177, and west on Shollenbarger Road. Southbound traffic will
reverse this route.
We apologize for any
inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
The Project
These projects are
necessary to replace aging and deteriorating structures in an
effort to prevent potential future structural failure and maintain
proper drainage and water flow. All work is being performed by
crews from the Butler County Engineer's Office and project funding
consists of local BCEO funds.
Who To Contact
While the BCEO makes
every effort to keep residents and businesses in a project area
informed, we strongly encourage you to check the Road
Closings page on our web site as the best source for possible
date and status changes concerning these closings. If you have
specific questions about these projects, please contact BCEO
Operations Deputy Scott Bressler at the Engineer's Office by
phone or email: 785-4128 or bresslers@bceo.org.
Your Safety
The BCEO would like
to emphasize the importance of proper safety measures during
actual construction. Every precaution will be taken to make the
construction sites as safe as possible. However, we do ask that
you and your family be aware of the potential hazards associated
with work areas such as this. Please advise everyone to keep
out of the construction sites as much as possible to reduce the
risk of accidents.
Your assistance would
also be appreciated in reporting any instances of vandalism,
including the removal of lights, signs, or barricades. Such acts
of vandalism can seriously jeopardize the safety of motorists
and pedestrians in the construction area. Please contact our
Office or the Butler County Sheriff at 785-1300 or 424-0469 to
report any suspected vandalism.
We realize that construction
can create some inconveniences and annoyances, but everything
possible will be done to keep these to a minimum during this
series of projects. Thanks again for your patience.
