Note: As
a courtesy to local motorists and in the interest of construction
site safety, this notice is delivered on BCEO letterhead to all
residents and businesses in and near the project area.
This is to inform you
that Reily Millville Road is tentatively scheduled to close 0.3
mile southeast of Ohio 732 and 1.8 miles northeast of Bunker
Hill Woods Road for a bridge replacement over Indian Creek by
the Butler County Engineer's Office beginning Monday, August
9, 2010.
The Project
This project is necessary
to replace an aging and deteriorating bridge with a new, safer
structure. The existing bridge, which spans Indian Creek, is
a three-span rolled steel beam structure built in 1969. The Engineer's
Office plans to replace the old bridge with a pre-stressed concrete
box beam bridge.
A construction contract
for the project was awarded to DDK Construction of Cincinnati
which submitted a low bid of $693,070. Funding will consist of
Federal LPA money and local Butler County funds.
All work is slated
for completion the week of December 6, 2010, weather permitting.
Detour and Maintenance
of Traffic
During this closure,
local access to Reily Millville Road will be maintained for residents
and businesses from either the northwest or southeast side of
the bridge, depending upon your location, but detours will be
posted for all thru traffic.
Southeastbound Reily
Millville Road traffic will detour north on Ohio 732, east on
Stillwell Road, and south on Bunker Hill Woods Road. Northwestbound
traffic will reverse this route.
Emergency personnel,
school bus transportation officials, the post office, and the
media have been notified of this upcoming closure. The information
is also posted on our web site at www.bceo.org/roadclosings.
We apologize for the
inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
Who To Contact
While the BCEO makes
every effort to keep residents and businesses in a project area
informed, we strongly encourage you to check the Road
Closings page on our web site as the best source for possible
date and status changes concerning this closing. If you have
specific questions about the project, please contact Melissa
Taylor in the Construction Department at the Engineer's Office
by phone or email: 785-4115 or TaylorM@bceo.org.
Your Safety
The BCEO would like
to emphasize the importance of proper safety measures during
actual construction. Every precaution will be taken to make the
construction site as safe as possible. However, we do ask that
you and your family be aware of the potential hazards associated
with work areas such as this. Please advise everyone to keep
out of the construction sites as much as possible to reduce the
risk of accidents.
Your assistance would
also be appreciated in reporting any instances of vandalism,
including the removal of lights, signs, or barricades. Such acts
of vandalism can seriously jeopardize the safety of motorists
and pedestrians in the construction area. Please contact our
Office or the Butler County Sheriff at 785-1300 or 424-0469 to
report any suspected vandalism.
We realize that construction
can create some inconveniences and annoyances, but everything
possible will be done to keep these to a minimum during this
series of projects. Thanks again for your patience.
