The Butler County Engineer’s Office reports the upcoming Ohio Roundabouts Conference at the Butler County Fairgrounds, hosted by the Ohio Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Ohio LTAP will bring together local, state, and federal agency employees and others involved in planning, installing, or maintaining roundabouts to hear from roundabout design engineering and construction experts, including BCEO traffic engineer Matt Loeffler, who will share Butler County’s increased safety statistics and other updates. Attendees can participate in a self-guided tour of Butler County while traveling through several of the county’s 41 roundabouts.

County Engineer Greg Wilkens maintains roundabouts are “the number one tool in our toolbox” to increase safety in problematic intersections. Butler County has seen a 69 percent reduction in overall crashes, an 86 percent reduction in injury crashes, and a 100 percent reduction in fatal crashes.
