Traffic Signal Changes in West Chester Township

News Releases

October 25, 2021

Union Centre Blvd & Allen Rd – The left-turn operation for both Allen Rd approaches was modified from permissive (no arrows) to protected/permissive 5-section signal head operation. Motorists on Allen Rd will now make left-turns onto Union Centre Blvd during a protective phase (green arrow). The modification will help relieve congestion and improve safety for Allen Rd motorists.

Union Centre Blvd & Floer Dr/West Chester Towne Centre Dr – With the addition of the soon to open northbound turn lane on Floer Dr, new 5-section signal heads were installed on Floer Dr and West Chester Towne Centre Dr to convert permissive only left-turn phasing to a protected/permissive left-turn operation. Motorists on Floer Dr and West Chester Towne Centre Dr will now be able to make left-turns onto Union Centre Blvd during protective phasing (green arrow).

Both Union Centre Blvd improvements were funded by The Residences at Clock Tower development currently under construction.

Tylersville Rd & Cox Rd – The westbound left-turn signal operation will be converted from protected/permissive phasing (5-section signal head) to protected only phasing (3-section signal head with only arrows). This modification will improve safety for westbound left-turning vehicles. There have been 12 known crashes involving a westbound left-turning vehicle and an eastbound through vehicle within the last five years. A SIGNAL OPERATION CHANGED sign will be displayed on the signal span alerting motorists of the change.

The Tylersville Rd & Cox Rd improvement is funded by The Butler County Engineer’s Office.
