Madison Township
UPDATE AUGUST 6, 2026: BRIDGE DEMO BEGINS MONDAY, AUGUST 10TH WITH NO THRU TRAFFIC. PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO USE THE DETOUR FROM EITHER SIDE OF THE BRIDGE IN YOUR COMMUTE FOR THE NEXT 6 WEEKS OR MORE.
Residential access will continue to be accommodated while the road is closed to through traffic; however, residents who live on the south side of the bridge should enter and exit the road from the south.
The Butler County Engineer’s Office reports that Trenton Franklin Road will close from Howe Road to approximately one-half mile south of S.R. 122 for a road widening project beginning Monday, March 16, 2026. This 1.2-mile improvement includes widening existing lanes and shoulders, replacing and widening the bridge, extending culverts, installing edge line and centerline rumble stripes, and guardrails.
The road will be closed to all through traffic, with only local traffic maintained. Due to imminent full closures at the bridge and various culvert projects within the construction zone, motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area and use the provided detour.
With the lowest bid, Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. will perform the $3.9 million project, funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC), and the BCEO. The project is expected to be completed by early September, weather permitting.
Detour: Northbound Trenton Franklin Road traffic will detour north on Elk Creek Road and east on S.R. 122. Southbound traffic will reverse this route.
