UPDATE AUGUST 19, 2026: NS INFORMED US OF NEW DATES – SEE BELOW NEXT TO ROAD NAMES.
The Butler County Engineer’s Office reports a series of Norfolk Southern (NS) rail crossing closures adjacent to US 127 beginning Thursday, August 6, 2026. Crews will be working on the following crossings for approximately two weeks:
- Augspurger Road – CLOSED 8/24
- Fear Not Mills Road – CLOSED 8/24
- Spring Road – OPENING 8/21
- West Elkton Road – OPENING 8/21
- Taylor School Road
- State Road – CLOSED 8/26 AND 8/27
- Oxford Middletown Road – CLOSED 8/27 AND 8/28
- Somerville Road – CLOSED 8/27 AND 8/28
The BCEO issued a permit for the railroad work with the stipulation that their Augspurger Road bridge replacement project would be completed before the crossing closure, and that the crossings at Fear Not Mills Road, Spring Road, and West Elkton Road would not be closed simultaneously.
