The Butler County Engineer’s Office (BCEO), in partnership with the Butler County Storm Water District (BCSWD) and the Butler Soil & Water Conservation District (BSWCD), proudly announces the successful completion of their Paint the Plow contest. This community outreach initiative was created to raise public awareness of winter driving safety while engaging local high school students in a fun, creative way.

Students from Badin High School designed and painted a BCEO snowplow blade with colorful, safety-focused artwork. This plow will be put to work this winter on the Hamilton New London Road snow and ice route, and will pass the school on the way. Motorists may spot the Badin High School Art Club students’ artwork on roadways as a reminder to drive carefully and respectfully share the road with snowplows during winter weather.

The painted plows will also be on display at the BCEO’s annual Snowplow ROADeo next Thursday, October 29th, where snowplow operators from the BCEO, area townships and municipalities come together for safety training and friendly competitions, showcasing their maneuvering skills on BCEO grounds in preparation for the upcoming snow season. Wednesday, October 28th, the snowplow operators will prepare their plows and do a dry run on their snow routes.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 8 operators will join in the friendly snowplow challenge again this year. Last year, ODOT presented the inaugural “Best of Butler” award to BCEO snowfighters in the spirit of collaboration to keep safety standards high on Butler County roads and highways for everyone who travels them. Which agency will win the title for 2026?
