Union Centre Blvd DDI Construction Change

News Releases

May 04, 2020

The Butler County Engineer’s Office reports that the Union Centre Boulevard @ I-75 Diverging Diamond Interchange project could be completed ahead of schedule due to reduced traffic and the COVID19 Stay at Home order. In coordination with the Ohio Department of Transportation and West Chester Township, the BCEO is moving forward with a plan to combine the next two phases of construction which could shorten the project by several weeks.

Late this week, crews will transition into the subsequent phases of construction on Union Centre Boulevard, where two inside walls will be built on the bridge. BCEO will monitor the safe maintenance of traffic; however, drivers could experience minor delays. Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens noted, “We want to take advantage of the 30%-60% reduction in traffic to minimize the inconvenience to the public. Performing this work now could result in the completion of the DDI before traffic increases ilater in the summer.” The planned four or five-day Union Centre Blvd. road and bridge closure will occur at the end of the project and over a long weekend.

The Butler County Engineer’s Office, together with West Chester Township, will continue to keep the traveling public well informed as to the progression of the project for safe commuting.

Motorists are encouraged to have patience and check www.bceo.org and Facebook and Twitter @bceonews for the latest updates on road closures and traffic advisories.
